Miller goodman have recently launched their new book called "Faces". This inspiring and imaginative book explores creative ways of making faces, using printing, collage, geometric shapes and sculpture. There are surprising details revealed by lifting flaps, looking through holes or turning the book upside-down. "Faces" also offers an insight into modern art movements. The book's designers reference key artists, including Alexander Calder, Joan Miro, and Eduardo Paolozzi as well as graphic designers of the 1950s and '60s. Available from Miller Goodman

The fantastic scale model of an east London terrace is their design beacon. The designers constructed a dolls house during the course of the show. Braderie de Lille (Lille flea market)

I visited the Braderie de Lille this September, known as Europe’s largest flea market. It felt a little overwhelming as to how we would get to see all 100km of stalls laid out across the city and find the best bits before the other 2 million visitors. When I realised it just want possible we started to relax and just wonder about. Although the area is vast there are a few key areas to visit for vintage and antiques that I would recommend.

Head to Boulevard Louis XIV, rue Debierre and rue du Réduit, Boulevard Jean-Baptiste Lebas this is the area reserved for the sale of antiques. Also go to Esplanade (alongside the Deûle canal, in front of the Champ de Mars).

For more information visit Lille tourist office. Purchases for Molly-Meg are yet to make into the shop. I haven’t been able to part with them just yet but will do soon I promise!

I got to meet up with fellow children’s furniture collector and friend Carole Daprey author of Mobilier Design Pour Enfants and creator of the blog vintage for kids who helped us with some bargaining.

On a recent visit to this season's edition of Playtime in Paris I visited the toys gallery at The Musée des Arts Décoratifs’. They are currently showing a retrospective of the work of the Czech designer Libuše Niklová (1934–1981), famous for creating toys such as the all famous Sophie the Giraffe. This is such an inspiring exhibition and insight into the work of the designer whom From the 1950s to the 1980s, designed so many wonderful creations. The Casalino is back and now available at Molly-Meg. A design classic from the 1970s by Alexander Begge. German furniture company Casala re-introduced the Casalino chair in 2007. The new editions have been produced using the original moulds from the 70s. So the design is not a remake but in fact the original!

These moulded plastic chairs have smooth ergonomic lines with no sharp corners. The stackable design makes them easy to store. They are extremely durable, scratch resistant, easy to clean and the colour does not fade. They are a perfect addition for any room in the house as well as in the garden!

Available in 2 sizes from Molly-Meg in a choice of 3 colours Red, Green and white. Vintage editions from the 1970s are also available in Red, Yellow and Orange

Tokyo Baby cafe

The Tokyo baby cafe opened in the up market Omotesando area of Tokyo earlier this year. I decided to check it out on a recent visit to the city. I love the playhouse shaped entrance into the cafe.

Once inside the decor is minimal it feels like you are in a modern day Alice in Wonderland set. There is a gigantic sofa serving as an enclosed play area, a central cafe area, and, for those wanting privacy, a separate dining room is available, which comes complete with a big brother style CCTV screen built into the wall so parents can keep a close eye on their children.

The interior plays with scale and perspective; using the difference in size between the adults and children to create a whimsical interior.
Designer Nendo explains, "You can see the world through two different users. Adults live their lives aware of tabletops, and the things placed on top of them. But children see the table's underside. A table's legs can look like pillars, and the reverse of the tabletop is like a roof". The cafe's 'absolutely huge' and 'absolutely tiny' furnishings take advantage of these two perspectives.

I love this cardboard child's chair by Muji made from recycled paper. The chair comes flat packed with the idea that children and parents can build it together. The plain white and brown card serves as a blank canvas for imaginative decoration. Unfortunately it is only available in Japan.

Consumers have uploaded their own designs on to Muji's online gallery

Muji recently hosted a special event showcasing a range of uniquely customised kids chairs. It was held at the Yurakucho branch Muji's largest Tokyo store. 50 Japanese and overseas creators were asked to decorate their own chair.

These are the masterpieces created by the winners of the dream seat competition we held in conjunction with the V&A Museum of Childhood. There were so many brilliant designs to choose from it was a very tough decision. We chose the beautiful drawings below based on the imagination and thought that each child had obviously put in. I hope you like them as much as we did.

Renate Müller Exhibition opens this week

Renate Müller's exhibition opens today at R 20th Century, featuring rare vintage and exclusive contemporary designs by the pioneering German toy maker. Renate Müller will be in attendance at the exhibition opening and will lead hands-on demonstrations at a special Family Day on Saturday, October 16.
Conceived in the early 1960s during her student days at the Polytechnic for Toy Design in Sonneberg, Germany, Renate Müller's exceptional, uniquely whimsical toy animals and shapes have been designed and hand-made in exactly the same way since 1967 and hotly collected by design enthusiasts for years.

There is a great feature on Müller 's work in the New York Times and Daddy types features examples of her work designing play and learning spaces over the years

Little Red Stuga have collaborated with Lekolar a supplier of interiors to schools across Scandinavia. Together they have produced the Dream BIG giant play mat which is available this month. Little Red Stuga have also started a blog big play. The sunflower smaller play mats remain my favorite they neatly fold up for easy storage. Available in 3 colours from Molly-Meg .
